Chalk Drawing: Roman Soldier

This is a chalk drawing of an ancient Roman soldier for our Ancient Rome unit. We are using a Waldorf curriculum by Live-Education, but often travel down our own path. To view or purchase curriculum visit:

This drawing took about 30-40 minutes.

Supplies used: Sargent Art Square Chalk Pastels and Usborne Encyclopedia of World History. Other reference books are “Going to War in Roman Times” by Moira Butterfield and DK Eyewitness Book “Ancient Rome”.

We have a mobile chalkboard/dry erase board that is 4’X6′ by Ghent.

Chalk can be purchased at

Enjoy!
