Are Museum Memberships Worth It?

We have been members of ASTC for many years and for us, it’s been of value. The Association of Science and Technology and Centers has museums and science centers all over the world, so once you are a member of one museum that is ASTC, you have reciprocal membership with all of them! This is especially useful if you wish to visit the same museum often, or if you travel a lot and wish to explore new places. I find that my kids and I have a 2-3 hour limit at a museum; by then, we are either overstimulated or too tired to enjoy the museum any further. Having our membership allows us to explore new museums without feeling obligated to stay the whole day because let’s face it, some of these museums are quite costly with admissions hitting $20-$30 a person. For a family of four, that can be $100 for a couple hours at a museum. Our membership allows us to support the museum and at the same time enjoy member benefits like extended hours or discounted prices on special events and exhibits. The Association of Children’s Museum is another option and also offers reciprocal membership to over 400 museums!

If you already have a membership to a museum, check your membership. Who knows, maybe you’re already a member!
