Geometry Course Grades 5th-8th

$100.00

**Lifetime Access**

This course includes 11 Live Geometry Lesson I did with my 13-year-old son. We work through geometric symmetry of a circle from 3-fold to 12-fold symmetry. This course is a stand alone course that complements a Waldorf Main Lesson block on geometry. You may use this as an introduction to Waldorf inspired geometry or to add to your geometry lessons. In addition to the Course Lessons, I’ve included 20 geometry tutorials from our previous Geometry units as well as 10 short video tutorials on 3-Fold to 12-Fold symmetry. This way, you can choose to do some of those lessons and activities as well to fill out your lesson or to support your existing geometry unit.

Lesson 1 is available for free.

The first lesson is available for free so you can see if this course is right for you and your student. Please review the video before buying this course as there are no refunds once you purchase the course, as you’ll have access to all videos at once.

Course can be found on this website on a password protected page. Upon purchase, you’ll receive a downloadable document with information on the course, the materials and the password.

Do you want to approach geometry in a beautiful, holistic and artistic way?

Does math send a sudder of anxiety through you?

Do you need help constructing geometry lessons?

This course might be just what you’re looking for.

This course includes 11 Live Lessons that I did with my 13-year-old son, two LIVE sessions, and 32 additional videos. In the LIVE sessions we we can chat about geometry, students can share their work and families can meet each other. The 11 live lessons in the course cover 3-fold to 12-fold symmetry. We work through constructing each fold symmetry design and color in the image.

Included are 32 additional videos, most of which are geometry tutorial videos (these videos are currently on YouTube, but are included in the course for your ease).

For this course, you only need paper, a compass, a ruler and color pencils or watercolors. One additional resource I highly recommend you get is Drawing Circle Images by Musigfi Studio by Deltaspektri. Drawing Circle Images is a fantastic user-friendly workbook that we used for this portion of our geometry main lesson block.

For our projects, we used Fabriano hot press 90 lb. watercolor paper. This watercolor paper is smooth making it ideal for compass work and drawing, but it’s watercolor paper which means it can hold up to watercoloring or other art mediums. My 13-year-old son used his main lesson book (12.5″x9.5″) which was a suitable alternative and opted not to watercolor his designs. Instead, he used his Koh-I-Noor Aquarelles colored pencils to color in designs.

While I loved using our Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, my son opted to use his Koh-I-Noor Aquarelles colored pencils to color in designs. He’s not that into watercoloring and wanted his work in his main lesson book rather than on loose sheets which would be bound later into a main lesson book. I like Distress Inks because the colors are rich, varied and clear. But, they dry permanent and are harder to lift you make mistakes. I also used Perfect Pearls and Heidi Swapp Shine to add shimmer to my inks. The final result is a lighter shimmered color which looks stunning. I used basic paint brushes from a local craft store and various acrylic blocks and trays to hold my inks which were sometimes diluted with water.
