Here are my suggestions for what to expect for each grade: Kindergarten: If you have a KG student, I would limit lesson work to oral narration. Grade 1: In grade 1, students may dictate a few sentences to the teacher. The teacher may write them down and have the student copy them into the main lesson book. Or, the student may write 1-2 sentences. Grade 2: In grade 2, students may write 1-2 sentences or copy 2-3 sentences. Grade 3: In grade 3, students may write 3-4 sentences or listen to dictation of 1-2 sentences. Grade 4: In grade 4, students may write one paragraph or do copywork or dictation. Grade 5: In grade 5, students may write one paragraph with 1-2 compound sentences. You may also continue with copywork and/or dictation. Grade 6-8: In grades 6-8, students may write 1-3 paragraphs with 4-5 sentences each with a mix of simple and compound sentences. Narration should include rich vocabulary and advanced punctuation such as quotations.

Lesson plans are set up with one week on each page with room to add days/dates and book recommendations/notes. Picture book selections are offered and may be considered lesson content if the curriculum is not purchased or used.
