Mandala

003

As part of our geometry unit we decided to piece together a mandala using watercolor paper we painted in beautiful autumn colors and cut into diamonds and triangles using our Silhouette Cameo.

You can find the watercolor paper, watercolors (we used Distress Inks by Tim Holtz) and spray adhesive from

http://www.dickblick.com

We found inspiration for this project from the image on the cover of our Live-Education Geometry curriculum which can be purchased from

http://www.live-education.com

We sprayed our paper with spray adhesive and then assembled the mandala with triangles and diamonds. The pieces adhered well, but we sent the finished pieces through the laminator to ensure that none of the pieces would fall off.

These make nice decorations for fall and can be easily hung in a window.

  1. I would love to learn more about Waldorf. I haven’t been able to find much about it. I am nervous to purchase an expensive curriculum with out know more. What sources are good to study and learn about that method?
    Thanks,

    1. Hi Maryanne, I understand your hesitation. The Waldorf curriculum I use by Live-Education (http://www.live-education.com) is pretty pricey at about $500 per grade level, plus there are all the supplemental materials and supplies you need to buy, too. I’ll definitely have a video and post on Waldorf education in the near future I hope you’ll find it helpful. In the meantime, if you are in a city that has a Waldorf or Steiner school, see if you can take a tour of the school. I toured both the private and public Waldorf school in my area and it gave me a lot of ideas, not to mention provided a lot of information. It also helps that I attended a Steiner school in France as a kid 🙂 I have to say, though, that over the years, I’ve used the curriculum as inspiration, rather than following it firmly.

      1. Thanks! I am excited you will be making videos about that. That will definitely help! I love your blog!❤️
