Winter Themed Lesson Plans (KG-2nd Grade)

$7.75

These Waldorf inspired lesson plans cover seven weeks of non-religious winter themed projects, activities, songs, poems, fairy tales, and more. Many of the books and activities will suit families who are living in locations that get chilly in the winter, maybe even snows and those who enjoy quintessential winter activities.

Lesson plans come with a blank week to print and fill in your own lesson plans. You can take this opportunity to add activities and books that represent your area and family traditions.

The seven week lesson plans also come with several open slots for you to fill in your own activities. Bonus: The first week’s lesson plans come with details about the fairy tales so you can edit out content you find unsuitable for your age group.

In addition to these lesson plans, I’m including my winter themed list of materials and resources.  Picture books chosen for this unit are both winter themed or biographical. You may choose to add the same or different picture books to this unit. Please note that in a Waldorf setting, stories are oral and not read aloud from books, use the method you feel comfortable with. These lesson plans work great for homeschooler and co-ops, but can work into a preschool or kindergarten classroom.

Check out the Winter Themed blog post for video tutorials on many of the activities listed in the lesson plans.

If you purchase this Winter Themed Lesson Plan, you’ll have free access to the updated Winter Themed lesson plan when it becomes available. Included in the new version will be regionally themed books, multicultural activities and botany projects.

To be honest, while I like more of the things we did, I can’t help thinking that these winter activities are not ideal for our family as our Southern California winters are nothing like the winters experienced in the books we read. However, it was a nice opportunity for us to learn about what others experience in the colder, snowy winter months.
